Program
1st day: Arrival
The tour starts in Villach. The small town at the foot of the Dobratsch is the ideal starting point for tours through the border region. You receive tickets for a swim in the 25m pool of the architecturally impressive Kärnten Therme on the day of arrival. Alternatively, you can undertake challenging trail runs over the foothills of the Dobratsch.
2nd day: Villach – Klagenfurt (ca. 75 km/ 1.230 m)
The bike course of the first day is comfortable and has only shorter climbs in the direction of Klagenfurt. Again and again the mighty Karawanken and behind the Karawanken you can already see the highest peaks of Slovenia.
3rd day: Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt is known to many endurance athletes because of the annual long-distance triathlon held there: Starting in Klagenfurt, you'll embark on one of the two bike legs of this triathlon (90km). A great way to explore the course if you want to compete yourself, or the opportunity to compare yourself with all the triathletes who have competed here in the past. Swimmers can enjoy themselves (alternatively to cycling or after cycling) in the Wörthersee, where the water in summer can reach temperatures of up to 27°C. In addition, we provide you with several running routes along the shores of Lake Wörthersee - we promise: it´s not going to be boring.
4th day: Klagenfurt – Bled /Radovljica (ca. 65 km/ 1.400 m oder ca. 125 km/ 2.070 m)
Today we continue towards Slovenia. To do this, we have to cross the Karawanken: either over the Loiblpass (1.368m) or the Seebergsattel (1.212m). Afterwards, the route gently descends towards the fairytale Slovenian town of Bled.
5th day: Bled / Radovljica
Today you can swim in the world famous Lake Bled, in the lido Grajsko kopališce. A swim with this view is unsurpassed. The run around the lake, which offers views of Bled, the island with the church and the surrounding Alps from all directions, makes it clear that Bled is such a popular vacation destination for a reason. Those who need a break can relax by the lake, stroll through Bled or replenish their calories with the delicious Bled cream slice.
6th day: Bled /Radovljica – Bovec (ca. 95 km/ 1.740 m)
Today's stage will take you to Bovec. On this route you will cross the Triglav National Park, named after the highest mountain in Slovenia.Slovenia's highest mountain. The big obstacle between Bled and Bovec is the Vršic Pass - the highest pass in Slovenia(1,611m) with no less than 50 hairpin bends. After the descent, you will find yourself in the Soca Valley, cycling along the Soca River (also known by its Italian name Isonzo). The river is loved for its good water sports (rafting, Kayaking) are loved and praised. The azure waters, the rapids along the gorges and waterfalls in between the forrests, make cycling here a real pleasure.
7th day: Bovec
In Bovec there is a possibility to spend a day relaxing and possibly trying out water sports on your own or to take another cycling tour to Italy and enjoy a real Italian espresso. In addition, there will be a number of running routes from which you can choose.
8th day: Bovec – Villach (ca. 72 km/ 1.120 m or ca. 90 km/ 1.930 m)
From Bovec the route goes over the Predil Pass in the direction of Italy. At the top of the pass there is the possibility of cycling even further up and climb the Mangart mountain. Finally, it goes back to the starting point of the bike tour to Villach.
